Thank you, members of the House/Senate as the House Chair of the committee on Transportation we discussed this bill in great detail. The inceased usage of cell phones in vehicles in Maine is growing, and the amount of accidents caused by driver inattention is also on the rise.  These two facts are closely related and the way to cut the amount of accidents down would be to make it illegal to use a phone while operating a motor vehicle.

Robert Patrick of Leavitt Area High School , members of the House/Senate.  I oppose this bill. People should have ther right to use their cell phones in vehicles.  Business is conducted as people commute to work, it isn't right to make people pull over simply to hold a conversation.
