Getting Started

STEP 1:  Advisor

Find an adult that will lead the group, doesn’t have to be a teacher. It could be a parent, or a YMCA Staff person.

STEP 2: Participants

Get a group of students together to form a delegation. Delegations can come from your school, or your YMCA.

STEP 3: Meetings

Delegations can meet as often as your group wants. We have some groups that meet weekly all year to prepare, and others that meet a couple of times prior to the training session and then before the Augusta Session. This is up to your group.

STEP 4: Write Bills and Run for Office

Delegations work to develop bills, and decide what offices they would like to run for at the caucus sessions.

STEP 5: HOST a Caucus session for your delegation

Arrange with the Youth in Government Office to log into one of the three Caucus Sessions
